MOTHER BUTLER GUILD NATIONAL CONVENTION
Theme: MBG…Servants of Hope on the Journey to the blessed life
July 11 – 12, 2025
World Trade Center Manila

Convention Statement and Resolutions

With grateful hearts and renewed conviction, we, the members of the Mother Butler Guild, gathered as one community of faith, united by our shared calling and our solemn induction pledge…

“I freely and joyfully join the ranks of the Mother Butler Guild… to be an apostle in my family, in my section, in my social sphere, by prayer, by work and example, and by living a truly Catholic life.”

Urged by our theme, “Servants of Hope on the Journey to a Blessed Life,” and strengthened by this sacred promise, we reaffirm our mission to bring Christ to others—amid trials and triumphs alike.

Day One: Hope is Happiness in Christ

Like Jesus, who is “faithful over God’s house” (Heb 3:6), we carry within us the deepest longing: to know, love, and serve Him more. Though challenges arise—personal struggles, fatigue in service, and moments of spiritual dryness—we drew strength from the gifts entrusted to us:

  • Prayer – Our daily encounter with Christ, that he is there even in our lowest moments he never leaves us… in prayer we experience his closeness, the source of our joy… our hope.
  •
  • The Eucharist – The heart of our communion and sacrifice, the summit of our worship, the center of our service wherein we experience holding Jesus, taking care of him, receiving him… the light and love of our life.
  •
  • Poverty – The example of Jesus who was God but emptied himself to become like us inspires our openness to serve with humility, never self-referential… Jesus who was obedient unto death to save sinners and bring salvation to the poor, impels us to bring his good news to the poor, especially the little ones with tenderness and compassion… their servants not their saviors.

Day Two: Hope in Christ Does Not Disappoint

In a world of uncertainty, we fix our eyes on Christ, who declares: “Take courage… I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33). Our hope remains alive and unshaken when we:

  • Pray together and for one another
  • Listen to each other’s stories and struggles
  • Celebrate our faith in joyful communion
  •

Through our Conversations in the Spirit, we shared the joys, hopes, challenges, and heartaches of our service. From these prayerful exchanges, we resolve to:

  1. Strengthen Communion
  • – Among us, Mother Butlers… supporting and empowering one another through kindness, positive encouragement, and genuine concern for one another’s wellness.
  • – Among other communities by engaging in parish activities in a spirit of collaboration and not of competition.
  • – Among the clergy by respecting and loving them as alter Christus (other Christ) through our example of prayerful cooperation in our service in the Church.
  •
  1. Expand Participation
  • – In our MBG parishes/dioceses through continuous Formation and Re-Orientation sessions/seminars.
  • – In other communities through involvement in parish renewal sessions, and Eucharistic devotions by frequenting the Adoration Chapel for silent worship of the Blessed Sacrament.
  • – In our cooperative service with the clergy through compassion, kindness, empathy and forgiveness.
  •
  1. Promote Mission
  • – To inculcate in all levels and ranks of the Mother Butler Guild, a sense of mission as a significant element of our faith, hope, and love to know Jesus and make him known through our words, actions, and behavior.
  • – To always be aware to witness to other communities, especially in our respective parishes how much we love Jesus through our humble, joyful and loving service in the Church, and through prayer and example that we may attract others to love Jesus too.
  • – To walk humbly, joyfully, lovingly together with the clergy in evangelizing boldly through words, works and witness that Christ lives, and that he lives in us.
  •

We shall strive, with the help of Jesus, the Servant-God we follow, obey, and serve to carry out three concrete resolutions before our next Convention in 2028 or within three years from now, and to render a Compliance Report on these to the MBG National Executive Board:

  1. To have in every Archdiocesan/Diocesan/Prelature/Apostolic Vicariate/MOP Council a Youth MBG Group comprising of members from aged 18 to 24 years.
  2. To conduct a Formation/Re-Orientation Program annually for all members in every MBG Diocesan Council.
  3. To have an actual outreach activity for the poor and/or contribute to raise up our MBG Talita Kumi Inengs.

Inspired by our vision—“to know Jesus and make Him known

And our mission—“to love Jesus and make Him loved

We go forth, “To Jesus through Mary,” bearing hope with his light and love as our witness.

With Mary, our Blessed Mother, we implore the Holy Spirit to guide us always on this sacred journey to the blessed life.

Servants of Hope. Handmaids of Joy. Housekeepers of Christ.
